The evolving nature of naval warfare drew increasing attention to aircraft carriers, and control of airfields on the islands was of paramount importance to the broader strategic objectives of the Pacific War. Air warfare over the Pacific is therefore a fascinating topic for tabletop gamers, and there was no more pivotal battle than Midway, on which our brand-new Blood Red Skies Starter Set is based.

Blood Red Skies is a tabletop miniatures game where you take command of a group of fighter planes in combat. The focus of Blood Red Skies is on controlling a large number of aircraft at once. The game is fast-paced and requires little advance planning. A smaller game of Blood Red Skies with six planes per side can be completed in forty-five minutes or less.

A fighting force consists of legendary World War II fighter aircraft that utilize the dynamic "Advantage" system. Opposing pilots can also use map-based aircraft characteristics, doctrines, ace skills, and mission location rules to get the most out of their aircraft and the combat environment.

The Battle of Midway starter set contains everything you need to play, including rules, game pieces, dice, playing cards and, most importantly, 12 highly detailed Warlord resin aircraft to take into battle.

The Grumman F4F Wildcat: When the US Navy and Marine Corps entered World War II, they had only one effective fighter aircraft at their disposal: the F4F Wildcat. Fortunately, the Wildcat proved more than up to the task of holding the line.

The Mitsubishi A6M2 'Zero' was a fast, modern fighter aircraft, but it lacked pilot armor. This weakness was hardly noticeable when the Zero (derived from the Japanese name Reisen, meaning Zero Fighter) was in the hands of aggressive and well-trained pilots.

The US aircraft are made of blue resin and the Japanese ones of white/cream, so your squadrons are easy to distinguish and can engage in fierce table battles even before applying the paint to the model.
