The Swiss pikemen, originating from the cantons of the Swiss Confederation, were the principal founders of the great mercenary revolution in infantry warfare that would later sweep across Europe, ushering in the era of pike and shot. Combining impressive combat skills and discipline with fierce bravery and a readiness to charge in their pike columns, these men were for a time the dominant force on the continent. They fought for many masters, and their weapons and flamboyant clothing attracted many imitators, the most famous being the German Landsknechte.

This set includes 24 Swiss pikemen, including a command group, a fantastic choice for any general of the Italian Wars to supplement his army.
