The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engine dive bomber and one of the outstanding tactical attack aircraft of the war; it also proved itself as a heavy fighter, night fighter, and reconnaissance aircraft.
In many ways, it resembled the wooden British Mosquito.
The Pe-2 was fast, maneuverable, and durable.
