The Soviet Union made use of medium calibre mortars to support their infantry, with the 82mm M-37 and M-41 types being the most common. Similar to those used all over the world, these mortars were simple in their basic design and almost foolproof in operation.

As an essential component of Heavy Weapons Platoons in Bolt Action, medium mortars give commanders the option of sending indirect fire over the heads of their troops, ignoring cover as they pound their targets. Directed onto the enemy by spotters, medium mortars can control large areas of the battlefield when used well.
