Provided to Great Britain under the Lend-Lease program, the M4A4 was renamed the Sherman V by its new owners. The Sherman V was one of the main tanks of the British and Polish forces in the later years of the war. It was later also used by the Free French Forces. This is probably the most widely used British tank. Its only drawback was its high silhouette. However, it compensated for this with its reliability, robustness, and sheer numbers. Armed with a 75mm gun and two machine guns, the Sherman V also proved to be a formidable opponent.
