The Sd.Kfz 184 Elefant Heavy Tank Destroyer gives the German armed forces incredible range and is able to eliminate enemy vehicles from a distance of almost 5km - long before a return fire was possible for most targets.

Although the Elefant modifications improved the vehicles, some problems were never completely resolved. In 1944, the Elefants served on the Italian front but proved largely ineffective, as their weight prevented them from using most Italian roads and bridges. As at Kursk, most Elefant losses were not a direct result of combat but occurred when mechanical failures and a lack of spare parts forced their crews to destroy and abandon them. The very last surviving vehicles saw action at Zossen during the Battle of Berlin.
