The Landwehr was a militia formed from teenagers to men in their forties. They were plucked from their fields, shops, and offices and enrolled in the Prussian military machine to bolster the armed forces that would eventually confront Napoleon, the tyrant of Europe. Prussia was a small state, but its armies were well-trained and eager to avenge its past defeats.

The Landwehr consisted of over sixty battalions and was equipped and trained to the extent that time and money allowed. A cheap but warm coat, a comfortable cap, and a musket were considered uniform enough to send thousands of troops into the field for the then-limited Prussian army.

The Landwehr fought bravely in the later wars of that time, fought hard in the campaigns of 1813 and finally at the height of the Hundred Days campaign, which was Ligny and Waterloo.

Possibly poorly equipped and semi-automatic, but after a few months of hard fighting, they fought with determination alongside their brothers in the regiments of the Prussian line.

With their meticulous details, these plastics capture the true nature of the Landwehr infantry, from the rugged peasants to the young man facing combat for the first time.
