Black Powder: Portuguese Line Infantry

The Portuguese were rarely friendly to their Spanish neighbors.
They were fond of each other. Even the year 1807, when Napoleon sent large French and Spanish forces across the border into Portugal, did not change that. Great Britain and Portugal, however, were old allies.
And it wasn't long before the Crown sent a general named Wellesley from London to drive the French off Portuguese soil.

The Allied army was prudently deployed with units from both sides.
Nations were set up, which gave it a distinctive character and was indeed an inspiration for every nation.

The line infantry in their blue jackets, and their light troops in brown, developed into proud and battle-ready units under Wellesley and Marshal Soult. Wellington, who became famous like Wellesley, applauded his Portuguese troops and called them his "fighting cocks." High praise from a man who knew a good soldier when he saw one.
