Bolt Action: Opel Blitz/Mule

The Opel Blitz came as the Type S 2 wheel drive and as the Type A or "all-wheel drive" with a 4x4 chassis that could withstand most conditions and offered an excellent structure on which such conversions as a radio truck (a metal and wood structure at the rear that housed radio equipment), Kfz. 385 tank truck, as well as anti-aircraft weapon platforms could be built.

Perhaps the better-known adaptation was the Opel Maultier "Mule" half-track. Introduced in 1941 after the horrific conditions on the Eastern Front, which had brought the entire army to a standstill, this conversion, which utilized the rail system of the obsolete Panzer I, gave the German army a highly capable all-purpose transport vehicle that would remain in use until the end of the war.
