Napoleonic Spanish Infantry (1st Battalion) 1805-1811 by Warlord Games

Napoleonic Spanish Infantry (1st Battalion) 1805-1811

Napoleon Bonaparte's seemingly invincible French army suffered its first defeat in the Napoleonic Wars against the Spanish army at Baylen in 1808. This was arguably the high point of the Spanish army's performance during the wars.

History has not looked favorably upon the armies of Spain during the Napoleonic Wars. They suffered many defeats, but also pinned down a large number of French troops in a brutal war that undermined the strength of countless French units, who were only too happy to leave a country where they were so hated. Although the vicious Spanish guerrillas wreaked havoc on their French enemies, the Spanish infantry also caused thousands of casualties on their own soil.

Most regiments had two battalions – the first consisting of half grenadiers and half fusiliers, carrying a flag called the coronela. We know many players like to field two flags in a battalion, regardless of historical accuracy. Therefore, if you're more interested in historical accuracy, Warlord Games has added an extra fusilier for free!

These high-quality, one-piece miniatures are cast in our premium Warlord Resin, ensuring a quick transition from assembly to the tabletop battlefield. A full-color flag sheet is also included with Coronela for the following regiments:

• 1st Line Regiment (Rey)
• 5th Line Regiment (Korona)
• Regiment of the 18th Line (Burgos)
• 36th Regiment of the Foreign Line (Irelanda)
• 2nd Swiss Infantry Regiment (Reding Senior)
• Ferdinando VII Volunteer Regiment
