The Portuguese military of the Napoleonic Wars was an interesting construct. A staunch ally of Great Britain thanks to long-standing treaties and a bitter enemy of the invading French, the Portuguese army was relatively small but benefited hugely from British training and equipment from 1809 onwards, developing into a powerful force in its own right. There were twelve cavalry regiments, which served well throughout the Peninsular War, helping to drive out the hated French!

Cavalry is an essential component of any Black Powder army, used to screen your own advance, drive back enemy horsemen, and ultimately charge home to glorious victory. Handled well, it can be utterly devastating, and these officers are just the men to provide that leadership!
