Black Seas: Merchant Vessels

Merchant ships were not designed for combat. They were slow, cumbersome vessels intended to have a large capacity for transporting goods, but at the expense of maneuverability.

In Black Seas, there are many scenarios that require the use of merchant ships. Scenario 4 - Blood and Plunder! (page 41 of the Black Sea rulebook) sees two opposing private fleets attempting to seize the contents of merchant ships, while in Scenario 9 - Landing Expedition (page 46 of the Black Sea rulebook), merchant ships laden with troops attempt to cross enemy waters and dump their cargo on a contested island.

For an alternative use of the merchant ships, the "Smugglers Run" campaign, which can be downloaded for free, should be considered.

The kit includes a large and a small merchant ship, each of which can be fitted with optional figureheads.
