M46 Patton Heavy Tank from Warlord Games
The M46 Patton was developed to replace the M26 Pershing and the M4 Sherman. It was one of the most important tanks of the US Army in the early Cold War and was in service from 1949 until the mid-1950s.
The only American combat deployment of the M46 Patton was during the Korean War. On August 8, 1950, the first M46 Patton tanks, belonging to the 6th Tank Battalion, landed in South Korea. The M46 proved capable of engaging North Korean T-34 medium tanks.
Although the defense agency classified the M46 as a "medium" tank, its capabilities were comparable to those of the M26 Pershing. The M46 was equipped with a similar 90mm gun (though slightly more powerful), so it was not lacking in firepower. The deployment of the M46 allowed the Pershings to be withdrawn from service.
The M46 proved to be a crucial component in the defense of the Busan Perimeter in 1950. It was subsequently used at Inchon to support US naval amphibious landings. It was replaced by the M47 (developed in 1952), whose use in the US was limited to the Korean War.
In Bolt Action
The M46 Patton is a powerful addition to the US forces in the Korean War in Bolt Action Korea. Its main gun is gyro-stabilized, a great advantage for any experienced tank crew!
Includes a resin and metal vehicle, a character card, and damage markers.
