Each legionary was protected by a lorica hamata (chainmail) and a scutum shield, and armed with a gladius (sword) and a pilum (spear). Renowned for their discipline and training, the Roman legionaries faced the enemy relentlessly, crushing everything in their path with their relentless advance!
