Korean War Ace Pilot: Zhao Baotong from Warlord Games

Zhao Baotong is considered the first Chinese jet pilot to achieve the status of a flying ace during the Korean War. Zhao was deputy commander of the 3rd Air Group of the 7th PLAAF Regiment when China intervened in the Korean conflict.

In his first engagement with USAF F-84 Thunderjets in November 1951, he demonstrated his willingness to engage large numbers of enemy aircraft and risk a G-induced blackout to score favorable hits. Over the next three months, he shot down seven enemy aircraft and damaged two. Chairman Mao Zedong himself praised the pilot with the "Combat Hero - First Class" award and declared Zhao Baotong worthy of the title "King of Aerial Combat."
