Blood Red Skies: Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu 'Nick' Squadron

The Ki45 Toryu (Dragon Slayer, Allied reporting name Nick) was a twin-engine heavy fighter aircraft modeled after the Me110 and its contemporaries, and became one of the most important combat aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Air Force.

The Ki-45 was originally used to escort bombers, but it soon became apparent that it was no match for the single-engine Allied fighters in close combat. It was therefore redeployed and, with its heavy cannon armament, proved to be a successful bomber fighter.
