What do you do when you're told to upgrade an already massive metal monster that requires a whole new generation of tanks? You make it bigger and louder. The IS-2 is the same beast, produced as a competent replacement for the KV series, and was a far better-engineered machine than its predecessor.

It had thick frontal armor and a huge 122mm gun; its weight was comparable to that of the German Panther. The IS-2 was designed as a breakthrough tank and was equipped with a weapon suitable for such a task; and it gloriously broke through the German lines right into the heart of Germany itself.
