German Heer (Winter) Weapons Teams

Infantry weapon teams are a vital component of any Bolt Action army, offering your troops great tactical flexibility. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams, and flamethrower teams are among the most common weapon types and pose numerous challenges to the enemy.

The Panzerschreck was a German development of the American bazooka, first used in North Africa, and fired a large-caliber rocket-propelled projectile with a shaped charge. The recoil from the weapon was so powerful that the first crews wore protective capes and masks; later, the weapon was fitted with a shield, giving it a distinctive appearance. The Panzerschreck and the disposable Panzerfaust replaced the Panzerbüchse 39 anti-tank rifle in 1944.

During the Battle of Stalingrad, Russian snipers took such a heavy toll on the besieged Wehrmacht that the Germans began training and equipping their own marksmen for sniping. Various rifles were used for this purpose, including the standard KAR-98K rifle and the Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifle, all fitted with the high-quality ZF39 telescopic sight and loaded with precision ammunition.

Flamethrowers were used throughout the war and often against buildings or fortifications. In the second half of the war, the Germans produced a lighter, smaller version that contained enough propellant for a single shot—essentially a one-shot flamethrower—the single-shot flamethrower. However, it is not known whether this weapon was ever actually used.
