The German occupation of France was fought by the Maquis – the famous French Resistance. Led by former officers or charismatic local leaders, these brave men and women waged desperate guerrilla operations that played a crucial role in disrupting the German forces during the Battle of Normandy. The members of the French Resistance risked everything for the chance to stand up against their Nazi oppressors.

The Allied paratroopers supplied the French Resistance with invaluable heavier weapons such as the medium Vickers machine gun and the 3-inch mortar, which are included in this set.

The miniatures in this set represent the partisans of the French Internal Forces (FFI), but are equally suitable for most resistance forces, whether in Poland, the Soviet Union or in many other countries living under the heel of Germany's boot.
