Fallschirmjäger Weapons Teams

Infantry weapon teams are a vital part of any Bolt Action army, giving your force a great deal of tactical flexibility. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and flamethrower teams are amongst the most common types of weapon, posing numerous challenges for the enemy to overcome.

The Panzerschreck was a German development of the American Bazooka first encountered in North Africa, firing a large calibre hollow-charge rocket projectile. So great was the backblast from the weapon, early teams wore protective cloaks and masks – the weapon later being fitted with a blast shield that gave it a distinctive appearance. The Panzerschreck and the single-shot disposable Panzerfaust had by 1944 superseded the Panzerbüchse 39 anti-tank rifle.

During the Battle of Stalingrad, Russian snipers took such a heavy toll on the beleaguered Wehrmacht that the Germans began to train and equip their own marksmen to act as snipers. Various rifles were used for sniping, including the standard KAR-98K rifle and the semi-automatic Gewehr 43, all fitted with the high-quality ZF39 telescopic sight and loaded with precision ammunition.

Flamethrowers were used throughout the war and often deployed against buildings or fortifications. In the latter half of the war, the Germans manufactured a lighter, smaller design containing enough fuel for a single burst – practically a one-shot flamethrower – the Eintossflammenwerfe. However, it is not known whether this weapon was actually ever deployed.
