That was it, until it arrived.

Like a paper boat swept down a raging current, the ship was torn to pieces within seconds. Those who died instantly were the lucky ones, for the remaining inhabitants of the ship were trapped and had time to process what had happened—with the endless depths of the sea on one side and the all-consuming maw of the Kraken on the other.
