The Char B1 BIS had thicker armor and an APX4 turret with a 47 mm SA 35 anti-tank gun (L/32), which, in addition to the 75 mm self-propelled howitzer, gave it greater anti-tank capability. Influenced by experiences from the First World War, the designers believed that a breakthrough tank would be necessary in future conflicts, hence the design of the heavy Char B1 and B1 bis. Among the most powerful tanks of its time, the Char B1 bis was very effective against German tanks during the Battle of France in 1940. However, its slow speed and high fuel consumption made it unsuitable for the more fluid warfare of the era.

With the fall of France, the victorious German military captured 161 Char B1 bis Panzer tanks and deployed them under the designation Panzerkampfwagen B-2 740 (f). Some were also converted into flamethrowers.

With this kit you can build a French or German tank, or one of two versions of a German flamethrower tank. The kit includes one French and two German tank commanders.
