The QF 6-pounder gun was the highly successful successor to the 2-pounder gun and was copied by the Americans as the 57 mm M1 gun. Its service life was extended by new developments in ammunition that improved its armor penetration, enabling it to take out Panther and Tiger tanks from the flank. Although supplemented by the 17-pounder, it was never completely replaced and remained in service with infantry units long after the war ended. The 6-pounder replaced the 2-pounder as the standard armament in British tanks as soon as it became available.

A 6-pounder is a good choice for a British artillery platoon in the mid- to late-war phase of Bolt Action, as it is equipped with a consistently reliable medium anti-tank gun. This version is crewed by British/Canadian soldiers in winter clothing, ready to relive the battles of the bitterly cold winter of 1944.
