By the time of the invasion of Russia in 1941, the Panzergrenadiers had equipped their commanders' half-tracks with the standard anti-tank gun of the time—the 37mm PAK 36. By replacing the front-mounted machine gun with this useful light weapon, the Panzergrenadier units could rely on a degree of fire support as they rapidly advanced across the battlefield, supported by their platoon's troop carriers.

Although the PaK 36 was not the most powerful anti-tank weapon (its crews nicknamed it the "door knocker"), it was best used for fire support rather than anti-tank warfare. More than 300 half-tracks were converted into variants of the Sd.Kfz 251/10, which saw service in Russia and North Africa, as well as in northwestern Europe. The D variant replaced the more complex multi-angled rear armor of the C variant with a single sloping surface, while the commando variant retained the old but still useful "door knocker."

Box containing a plastic vehicle.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0696/3432/6698/files/115308-sd_kfz-25110-ausf-d-36mm-pak-half-track-402012013-1.webp?v=1783196527
