These required two men to operate: one non-commissioned officer was responsible for carrying and firing the weapon, while the other carried the ammunition. Weighing less than 11 pounds and with an effective range of 500 meters, these mortars could be quickly maneuvered and deployed when needed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e The snipers were armed with a No. 4 SMLE rifle fitted with a No. 32 Mk. 1 telescopic sight. The team carried fifty rounds of ammunition: five tracer rounds and five armor-piercing rounds. They also carried two No. 36 Mills bombs or two No. 77 smoke grenades, as well as binoculars and camouflage netting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eThe portable flamethrower available to the British armed forces was the Ack Pack. Weighing 64 pounds, the Ack Packs could be carried and operated by one man. Fully loaded, the Ack Pack could fire ten bursts of flame, each lasting two seconds.
